YLBHI is working toward achieving this mission by working with Indonesians on a case by case basis, educating the people, working toward legal reform, network development and campaigning to inform the wider community. BorobodurSilverBorobodur Silver is a leader in the silver handicraft industry. It has been recommended by the Indonesian government as a leading silver retailer and wholesaler and has developed a substantial base for exporting. An internship at Borobodur Silver provides an opportunity to partake in all facets of this industry, from the development of the jewelry to the management of sales and the exporting process. WALHI - Friends of the Earth IndonesiaWALHI is an organization that works to protect the Indonesian forests, oceans, mountains, rivers, cultures, peoples and communities. It has been committed to this struggle for 25 years and is now represented in 25 provinces and has over 438 member organizations. There are a range of possible projects for interns at such a place. However, one of the likely tasks would be to produce a research report into a relevant issue in the Yogyakarta region. This is likely to involve extensive travel to neighboring villages, of which WALHI has the intricate local knowledge and resources required to facilitate. Jogja TVJogja TV is a very popular television station in Yogyakarta. It has all kinds of programs, from news and current affairs to programs on the arts and soapies. Likely tasks for internees include assisting in the reporting of news and work on the programs that are broadcast in English.
CD Bethesda (YAKKUM)CD Bethesda is a non-profit organization focused primarily on providing health care solutions and services for marginalized communities, especially those in rural areas. This involves a number of programs, including the development of staff from other NGOs in Indonesia, informing the public of their rights in health, economy and political life, conflict prevention and resolution. Work with CD Bethesda could potentially be as varied as the goals of the organization. Some likely tasks include the preparation of grant proposals and program reports, the maintenance of the CD Bethesda webpage, teaching English to children in rural villages and various other forms of assistance to those in need.
